20 March 2018

We regret to advise you that after more than 20 years in business, SekChek IPS will cease operations on 31 May 2018.

The main reasons that led to this difficult decision are:

  1. A significant decrease in revenue combined with increasing expenses
  2. A service-based business model, involving the transfer and processing of scan data, that is less suited to today’s business environment than it was in earlier years.
  3. A surge in paper/documentary requirements resulting from changes in legislation (Data Protection, Europe’s GDPR), more onerous banking and financial controls, requests for various certifications (ISO, IEC, BEE, SSAE), independent audits of our processing centre etc. These are typically annual requirements that differ by country and in many cases, by client.
  4. The loss of a significant amount of money after our credit card payment processor became insolvent.
  5. High R&D costs necessary to keep pace with advances in technology, such as mobile computing, new operating systems, development platforms, web technologies and social media.

SekChek is a small business that can no longer cope.

With immediate effect we will slightly reduce service hours to cut costs, so we can continue to provide a service to you until SekChek’s closure on 31 May.

The intention is to give you and your colleagues sufficient time to:

  • Make alternative arrangements for security audit services
  • Minimise any impact to your clients
  • Use the remaining balance of SekChek units on your account

We would like to reassure you that your scan data will continue to remain secure and will be fully deleted from our systems after your SekChek report has been despatched.

We thank you and all our clients for giving us an opportunity to serve you over the past 20 years.

Please communicate this notice to your colleagues who make use of SekChek’s services.

Best Regards,

Gordon Docherty (CEO) and everyone here at SekChek.
