SekChek Local Version 1.4.4: Release Notes

We released SekChek Local version 1.4.4, which is packed with many new and exciting features and reporting functions.

Active Directory & SAM Report databases:

  • Added report 'Summary: Changes Since Previous Scan', which produces an audit trail of changes made to security objects since the previous scan, such as the creation, deletion and modification of user and group accounts. The report includes the before and after images of each property and could be used for example, to confirm the proper operation of Change Management controls over security objects, to detect unauthorised changes to security and in forensics investigations.

  • Main Menu: SekChek's reports are now grouped into 6 categories to make it easier to locate a specific report. We also Improved the 'Report Search' function.

  • Main Menu: Added 'Print View' for all 'List xxx Reports'. This allows the results of all Query reports to be printed or saved to a file on disk.

  • Summary Reports-Print: Added an option to save summary reports to files in PDF and XLS formats.

  • Summary Report-System Configuration: Added new report sections for Host roles & hot-fixes and included several new security properties in the existing reports.

  • Summary Report-Owner & Software Information: Added details of the various Hosts included in the Scan file and Report database.

Active Directory Report database:

  • Added an analysis of Network shares defined on the target domain controller (DC). See Shares option button under report 'List System Configuration'.

  • Added analysis of Password Setting Objects (PSOs) defined on the domain. See report 'List Password Setting Objects'. PSOs, which were introduced in Server 2008, allow you to define more granular account password policies to cater for the needs of different types of users in a domain.

SAM Report database:

  • Standardised the Host name in the format ‘Domain name \ Host name’ for all queries (datasheet views) and report titles/headers. This caters for situations where the same SAM Host name is defined in multiple domains.
